8/19/2019 0 Comments David - New Haven, CTSo here's a story from yours truly. I've been asking myself, "What kind of person do I want to be?" for so long, there's probably a thousand stories, but this was very cool and very recent. Sometime last May, I got out of my car and saw a stuffed doll lying in front of my house. I have a daughter who grew up with a favorite stuffed doll, so I know how important those things can be to a young child. So I picked up the doll, and even though it would have been easier just tossing it out or propping it up against a tree for the owners to maybe find, I asked myself what kind of person I wanted to be. The answer ended up being I wanted to be the kind of person to try to get the doll back to the child. So I took pictures of the doll, made flyers, and put up signs in the neighborhood. I figured if they dropped it while walking by, they'll probably walk by again and see the signs. Today (8/17/2019), I was mowing the lawn and noticed that the signs were still up and I was thinking that as soon as I finished mowing I was going to pull the signs down and throw them out and get rid of the doll. Three months was long enough. Not more than 30 minutes later, I get a phone call on my cell phone. It was some young lady who said she understood it had been a very long time, but I had posted that I had found a stuffed doll and although I probably didn't, she was wondering if I might still have it. Her one and a half year old child lost it quite a while ago and she had just recently seen the signs I posted. How cool is that?? After three months, I was so close to throwing everything out. And minutes after I decided, the mother calls me. And thus, I was able to help reunite a favorite doll with a very young child. Made my day. All from asking myself what kind of person I wanted to be, and then following through.
